The game had a very big importance for third-rankedCapitanes as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Capitanes defeated 5th ranked Gigantes in Arecibo 123-116 . Arecibo made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Arecibo players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. The winners were led by international forward RJ Melendez (201-2002, college: MSU) who scored that evening 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Australian forward Jack McVeigh (203-1996, college: Nebraska) supported him with 26 points and 9 assists. Even 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists by American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Carolina . His fellow American import guard Jaylen Nowell (193-1999, college: Washington) added 25 points and 4 assists for lost side. Four Arecibo and five Carolina players scored in double figures. Gigantes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with San German. Carolina at the other side dropped to the sixth place with two games lost.
